A NEW dessert could rival the monster shake as the next big food craze in Melbourne.
Ferntree Gully’s Koffee Bar is launching K-Bar Creamery, where a sweet mixture is poured onto a cold plate. The mixture is rolled into tubes after being pressed together. The tubes are plated up. “All of a sudden it very quickly freezes and you use a spatula and you roll the ice cream and you can mix whatever flavours you want into the base mix. It’s ice cream but it’s a very different experience when you eat it. It has a dense thickness to it, it’s pretty spectacular with an incredible presentation,” said Ms Williams, owner of Koffee Bar.
Flavour combinations include “The Flapjack”, a pancake-flavoured rolled ice cream with candied bacon and mini-pancakes on a skewer, and the “Oompa Loompa”, a bubblegum flavour with fairy floss.
