Shop the regional markets

The iconic Red Hill Market attracts an epic crowd when it pops up on the first Saturday of each month. Held at the Red Hill Recreation Reserve the market has more than 300 stalls selling handcrafted goods and homegrown produce.

You can enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch and Christmas shop for unique handcrafted gifts. From handmade clothes and natural beauty products, furniture and homewares to candles and artworks there’s plenty to choose from. Stock up the pantry with cheese, honey, cider, wine  and preserves as well as fresh fruit and veggies and seedlings for the home gardener. Let’s not forget the baked goods. I hope the stall with the passionfruit sponge is still there.

So skip the busy shopping centres and packed car parks and treat yourself to a festive regional market this December.

Red Hill markets run on December 1. If you cannot make it there is Yarra Glen Racecourse Market on December 2 and at twilight on December 8. Mornington Racecourse Market is on December 9 and at twilight December 15.
