Come and celebrate the 2019 Moon Festival at Box Hill Central in Box Hill this weekend, September 7th and 8th. The street party on Saturday, September 7 will begin with an opening ceremony at noon, followed by an afternoon of lion dancing, traditional and modern Chinese music and dance performances, games and live demonstrations including dumpling-making classes by Oriental Merchant.
From noon until 8pm the mall street party will be host to more than 50 market stalls showcasing Asian cuisine and culture with unique dishes including mooncakes a delicacy traditionally eaten during the Chinese Moon Festival.
An absolute “must-try” is the Black Truffle Xiao Long Bao created by Kitchen Republik for the lunar-appreciation festival. Costing $7.90 for 4 or $12.90 for 8 the unusual dish features a meat filling mixed with truffle paste, contained within a pastry dough, which has been infused with charcoal powder to enhance the truffle flavour.
