The Lunar New Year Festival continues this weekend at Box Hill, one of the largest and most vibrant centres of Melbourne’s Chinese population. On Saturday, 1st February Box Hill Central will come alive with over 100,000 people to celebrate the Whitehorse Chinese New Year Festival and the Year of the Rat with non-stop 12-hour Chinese New Year festivities. Officially commencing at 11am with a gigantic 300-person Tai Chi performance, following a Lion Dance at 11.30am, with festivities heading into the evening. Festival goers will enjoy games, food, rides, wonderful music, singing and dancing showcasing the local community and firecracker displays. Don’t forget to take that snap in the tunnel of lanterns, the perfect place for an instapic!
