Next Monday 17 February, for one memorable night, the historic fruit and vegetable stalls of the Queen Victoria Market will be transformed into a theatre like no other as it hosts Opera in the Market 2020. See the shining stars of Opera Scholars Australia take centre stage alongside principal artists Greta Bradman, Andrew Goodwin and Chloe Harris. They will be joined on stage by Symphony Australis, conducted by Guy Noble. Opera in the Market 2020 have also added a moving rendition of the popular song “I am Australian” to its music program. Whilst Indigenous didgeridoo player William Barton will revisit his haunting rendition of Men at Work’s iconic “Land Down Under”.
Opera in the Market 2020 will also be pledging support for those impacted by the recent Australian Bushfires by donating a share of ticket sales to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. A silent auction during the evening of art, food and gifts donated by traders and stallholders at the Queen Victoria Market will also raise funds for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
